Over the Christmas myself and the family hit off for Barcelona! Was so good to get away from the snow and ice for the week between Christmas and New Years. I think I could make it a tradition! Weather was 'fresh' suffice to say a coat was required as were sun glasses!!

I hit over to London with my mother in tow over the weekend for a party in a Hilton just north of London. It was a 60th but there was a great mix of relations, good tunes and lots of dancing! A great weekend was had by all, got to see a bit of London and meet up with old friends! If only every weekend could be as exciting! The relations throwing the party are decidedly quirky so I decided to go with a skirt length that I wouldn't be used to! Added some classic make up - red lips and flicked out black eye liner and I think all in all a fun but up-to-date party outfit!

Right now I'm going through, literally, a tracksuit/workout/pj's attire situation. I am hunting for a job, ugh, the stress, well not that it's stress really as I'm being lazy, although I do somewhat think it's my god given right to be lazy for a week or two after submitting my PhD! Now I find myself caught in a situation where I'm stuck between pursuing the line of career I have done for the past few years in college or finding and doing something that I really enjoy. Preferably something in fashion but in small town Ireland that suggestion is not always met by the enthusiastic eyes that it should be. But then I'm always constantly listening to the voice in my head telling me that life is too short blah blah. Which it is, I know that, really I do.

Guess it's back to the hunting but I suppose I should really tell myself that if I wanted to make an attempy at this industry perhaps I should devote more time to my only current window of opportunity....this blog! So I will.... and this time I'll stick with it, because after all, it's all about what you make of life yourself right!

Ugh I have literally deserted this blog. Well actually truth be told I've been neglecting alot of things in the past few months. I am on the eve of becoming officially unemployed yet on the cusp of handing in my doctoral thesis. In the face of dwindling job opportunities I have decided that I am going to grab this opportunity.I want to use it as an excuse to explore the world of fashion and DIY in light of an also dwindling budget!

I think it's time to tell myself that I, being Irish, am not going to be a victim of the recession and all the economic doom and gloom but rather I'm going to embrace this time and try and become a product of the recession. Ugh I hate that word!

So I am going to try and use this blog as a source of inspiration, blog about outfits, DIY's, long walks, photography and whatever else I can get my hands on to get my creative juices going!

Ooooh my I have been the worst blogger ever. I have a good excuse though...I was in NYC!!!!!! Sooo amazing! Actually didn't do that much shopping, the boy did more than me but it was about time the tables turned. I did end up getting a few quirky bits that my wardrobe full of mainly basics is crying out for. I don't even know where to start raving about how amazing that city is, god... We were there for a week too so got sooo much done, I'll let the following pics demonstrate it a little better than I could verbally! The last pic, although not clear was taking outside the opening if Forever 21 in Times Square, in the picture are Rumi, Krystal and the Glamouri, three of my all time favourite bloggers!

Got bored waiting for Glee to come on the tv so decided to do some experimenting with my wardrobe. This is of the utmost importance of late as I am so broke and trying to save to a trip to NYC in just less than a month, whoop!Messing around with the slouchy sports look and also the socks and shoes theme which was all over the pages of Vogue this month I couldn't but be inspired to try it!

Didn't put much thought into my outfit today but because its reminiscent of what I wear most days during the week I figured I might as well document it! I do a lot of work outdoors so it's important to be comfy!

Trusty converse! I have discovered my love for another member of the 'Dream Team' that is the Paris Vogue Team that comprises of Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld etc etc. The latest member of the team to catch my attention was Geraldine Saglio, similar to Alt in that she sticks to pretty much a basic palette of grays etc but she is always on trend and literally the coolest pregnant person I have seen in a long time!

This DIY has taken ages, also not easy to do at night as the concentration it requires hurt my eyes! Will probably have to wear something underneath whenever I do wear it outside because even inside I can feel a significant breeze around my mid-drift that I'm sure my mother will have something to say about!!

Also scored this ring in Penny's a week or two ago and then this very summery orange nail polish in Dunnes. It is from that cheapy brand Essence, so cheap (€1.28 for this polish)!

Soo excited!! Got my first proper pet this weekend, had a dog when I was much younger but this is the first thing I've ever had to look after myself, she's a beautifully cute little rabbit!! Calling her Swifty-partially in homage to Michael Swift on the Connacht Rugby team but mainly because she is so damn quick when I let her out of the hutch!

Been a bad blogger of late, been busy though, anyway not to worry, had some DIY fun today. Saw this bow on Nicki Hilton and though it was pretty cool and am always looking for a way to jazz up a boring gray sweater! Had this material lying aroudn for ages so this is the work in progress, waiting for a suitable jumper to dry on the radiator.

Also added pins to my denim waistcoat, give it a bit more edge, well as if it wasn't edgy enough!!

Well I've been absent from online for a bit now, was at home, was in Dublin, was in Cork, now in Thurles, then in Belfast, Birmingham perhaps....lots of things done last week, went to the Kate Nash gig in the Academy, anyone else attend!? Great fun, my cousin and his band were supporting them, they were great, check them out here and here. Kate was brilliant, but I'm bias, check out the new single its available on Monday, her album's going to be great, darker than the previous one with some great messages! Have no pictures as of yet, had my Mums camera but they will follow shortly! Here's a sneak preview!!

Back home early for the Easter, not all relaxing, still writing away, soooo boring! Not much planned for the long weekend other than some time on the tiles with all my girls, yay, love catching up with them, NCT resit next week and also Kate Nash gig in the Academy. Good few of us heading to that, family etc, did I mention we're related....! Braved the weather today for these over the knee boots below, whoop, River Island sale always draws me like a magnet, these were reduced from €134.50 to €60, hello bargain! Plan on teaming the below outfit with a denim shirt for a Jazz gig tonight. I can see these boots fast becoming a staple, despite entering the summer months if last summer was anything to go by I won't be swopping these for flip flops just yet!!

So I finally made it inside the door of a high street shop over the weekend, whoop! I took to cork and was well impressed with the new Opera Lane. Unfortunately both time constraints and the tightening of the purse strings meant I only came away with a few bits, mainly accessories but I did manage to bag two things that I’ve had my eyes on lately – a denim waist coat (soooo very 80’s!) and a tutu skirt! I was like a woman on a mission! Haven’t had a chance to wear either yet so no photographic evidence but I did find some pics of people (ok ok ‘celebs’) wearing denim vests, and Irish blogging celeb Whisty wearing a tutu! ;-)

Wore this to the pub to watch the rugby the last day, come on Connacht!!

Actually found this pic I took of the outfit I wore out for some pre-patricks day festivities. Have had these spotted tights in my wardrobe for a while now but hadn't a chance to wear them till now. Was sort of unsure about whether they made me look like I had some form of polka dot disease but upon reassurance from the boy I wore them out. Think I ripped them by the end of the night though-sheer tights + lots of red wine=disaster!!! Wore shoes from River Island, it was their first outting hence the over indulgence of red wine, thought it would ease the pain, thankfully they were surprisingly comfortable!! Score!

Can't get Lady Gaga and Beyonce's song out of my head, so darn good!!

Now I'm usually averse to putting up lots and lots of pictures of my favourite runways looks mainly because a quick hop around the style sties will have me come across the same pictures over and over. HOWEVER, I do feel the utter need to document some of the looks from the Isabel Marant Fall 2010 RTW mainly because I'm at home studying which generally involves the same t-shirt and jeans combo that really wouldn't inspire anyone style-wise!

How amazing is this collection though. Reminds me of D-squared of last year expect a bit more fancy but at the same time wearable, which is not a word always associated with the runway collections! Anyway, back to study, feast your eyes! I can totally see me wearing all these clothes, well my budget obviously can't but, hey, a girl can dream right!!

Don't you just love shoes? And bags of course but shoes, to me they really make my outfit, like if I should ever dare to put on a shoe that I didn't love I think it would annoy me for the entire night! God, perhaps that's a bit fussy, but hey no rules to say I can’t be, he he!! I also have become overly fussy about heel height, I can’t bare to put my feet into anything less than four inches, which is probably ridiculous considering my latest shoe acquisition makes me stand at just under 6 foot 4 inches, ha ha! These are some of latest shoe buys, in the past two months or so, topshop, pennys and river island are my shoe destinations of choice, and I’m beginning to think the whackier the better! Anyway rant over, I’m just trying to put off doing actual work, Typical!

The blue strappy ones are my ultimate favourite, the boy picked them out! I really must be subjecting him on far to many shopping expeditions!!

Bold days are over

Oh I’ve been a bold and neglecting blogger, well all that’s about to change, I’ve been living on my lonesome in a place I know nobody far from family and friends. I thought at first this would be to my advantage, no distractions, get my PhD written up etc etc. Not so much, turns out the human mind needs interaction! Therefore, I’m upping sticks and heading for the capital! It will entail twice weekly trips to where my project is based in Cork but so be it. Thoughts of being near my wonderful friends and even more wonderful boyf is enough to lift any depleted girls soul!

Anyway enough rambling, either way from now on I will have the motivation to actually remember to bring my camera to work to upload pictures! Bought so many pretty shoes of late that need to be documented and shared, shoes are my weakness!

For now check these babies out, oh to have money in such vast amounts that I would think nothing of blowing a few squids on these!!

So the weekend turned out to be one big laze fest involving strolling, coffee, wine, buying heels. This week then comprises of being lazy and unproductive, so hard to pull oneself out of the pit of procrastination! To attempt such a thing I spent a while looking over the Fall 2010 shows, some great stuff out there, could probably incorporate some of it in to my wardrobe now as the Spring 2010 season will almost inevitably be by-passed due to rain and cold!! Had a fabulous weekend relaxing/working/enjoying life in Galway over the weekend, can't get enough of that place. Travelled back for work/study this morning, certainly makes the weekend a lot longer to travel on a Monday morning as opposed to Sunday evening. Anywho. Ooooh just saw online at Cocoperez Burberry is going to not only show its show live from London its also going to show it in 3-D. Unfortunately for most lowly fashion followers who are unable to make it to LFW don’t go pulling out your ‘left over from avatar’ specs just yet, only a few chosen ones will get to see the show in 3-D in glasses designed especially for the event by Creative Director Christopher Bailey. Oh well, 2-D is good enough for me, at least I can say I was front row!! He he!!

So finally I’ve decided its time to get off my ass and actually ‘be fashionable’ and not just talk about it! Yes yes it’s true, she manages to mix all the right elements of punk and lady which I adore and she is not one of these celebrities constantly wearing heels, that really irks me! Currently residing in NYC as she completes a stint on Broadway as Roxie Harte (e, no e?!) in Chicago she has been spotted stepping out in the following ensembles! Being at home over the holidays have given me ample time to find new shows to watch in bulk online. My latest obsession is The Rachel Zoe Project. Given their accents seriously bug me I continue to watch for one reason only and that is Taylor Jacobson, Rachel's style associate. Her style is amazing, so simple but just well put together with the right amount of accesories. In the words of Rachel herself 'I die'!! I adore the simplicity of this outfit-simple white shirt but the neck tie adds a touch of je ne said quoi! Very easy to add too, must invest in a white shirt, considering I don’t work in an office I have always ceremoniously avoided them. Have looked for these type of tights but to no avail as of yet. I did spot a pair in penny’s but unfortunately they only had them left in a medium which, again unfortunately, would leave the crotch of the tights pretty much around my knees, nice I know!

Feeling full of the christmas cheer as I finish up work/study in one part of the country to ehad for another and then finally home, whoohoo!!

As I sit struggling to come to terms with aging yet another year today and also in a bid to treat myself to a theoretical day off work, technically I’m sitting at my desk, realistically I’m lost in a world of online blogging and all things lovely and fashionable! I was packing last night for yet another long weekend away, this time at home (yay!) so I decided to document a few of my favourite things of late. Also got my retro Casio yesterday, I didn’t realise the ladies version would be so small so may have to invest in a mans one too.

These swans have been keeping me company as I work the last few days!

Yes yes another Taylor Tomasi Hill pic, alongside Zanna Rossi, some may know her from that really annoying programme about the interns at Marie Claire. Must admit it’s not often a magazine I purchase but given that I’ve searched high up and low down this month for Vogue with no luck as of yet I may just have to indulge in something a little different. Knowing these women are working there is enough encouragement anyway! The studded pants, those ysl boots, that red hair *sigh*!!

Whilst rummaging through the depth of mess in my car this morning I happily stumbled across my long lost camera, having thought I'd left it at home on the other side of the country I was particularly delighted with my find! Given that, for the moment, I am wearing nothing but a ring that is worthy of mention on a blog about fashion (I figured dirty wellies and a fleece, yes a fleece *hangs head in shame*). So here is the ring. Bout at a knock down price of two for the price of one in Topshop, the two rings bought for the grand total of €3.90 (thanks sister!) whereas before said bargain they would have cost €27 in total!! Score!

Also dreaming of being away on holidays, perhaps in Luxembourg visiting my friend and drinking these 'hotchospoons' yummmmmm....

Trawling through my daily check of the news (entertainment that is) I see that Whitney Port's clothing collection (from The City fame) is dublin bound. Alila on Drury Street will be the sole stockists, not that I'll be running up to check it out, in my opinion she's yet another clueless fashion 'designer' celebrity. It really does go to show that a bargain hunter really does always have the last laugh. I spent a wet and wintery Sunday afternoon in the comfort a ‘well known but not to be named here (just in case)’ shop in Temple Bar and couldn’t help but be in awe of just how over priced convenience is in the world. Par example, I am the (almost) proud owner of a retro Casio watch that I purchased on ebay for exactly €17.12 (including postage), upon enquiry in said shop in Dublin the self same watches were retailing for between €47 and €52…..Seriously, it pays to be a student driven by the desire to be fashionable but yet not homeless!!

Also bargain of the century has to go to my Louboutin rip-offs, purchased in Pennys for a mere €21. Will photograph and post because a word description simply wouldn’t do!

Picked up a few bits and bobs in the shops of late. The best thing about living ‘down the country’ is that when you go to Dunnes all the weird/cool stuff isn’t sold so the prices are slashed! I picked up a fringed vest thingy for the sum total of a euro and also a sequenced vest for a single euro also, thus I succumbed to the trends but without the extortionate price tags-oh ya! On the flip side the worst thing about living ‘down the country’ is that Dunnes is pretty much the only shop for miles….something my bank balance may, in time, thank me for!

Ooooh and bargain of the week goes to the leather-esque blazer I picked up in Pennys in Cork over the weekend for €9, sure where would you be going (have a strong urge to throw in the word ‘girl’ there at the end of that sentence, I’ll refrain!).

Fast becoming obsessed with red lipstick, wore it to a wedding, makes getting ready soooo much quicker!

Have lost my camera somewhere amidst my all-over-country ramblings, will start to photograph and make this blog ever so slightly more personal asap!

I’ve decided this is what I want a portion of my winter wardrobe to reflect, knits. Aside from having started crocheting/knitting of late (a finished product yet to be produced…) I have been cosying up in a knitted jumper courtesy of my nana to banish the winter blues. All the same I would currently like to be clad top to toe in any of the looks from the dsquared2 fall 2009 rtw, although technically considering its for the current season I'm right on time....I really want a fur (faux of course, I'd rather not have people shouting abuse at me!) coat, the search for the perfect print and length continues!

With the distinct change in the temperature outside I've finally begun to think about the winter wardrobe. Oh my, words cannot begin to describe how amazing i think Karl Lagerfeld is. I found this video of the spring/summer 2010 at the Grand Palais in Paris, sigh, simply amazing! So quirky the whole set was amazing, 'impromptu' performance by Miss Allen, and then there were the clothes! Whites, beige’s and ivories, which personally are far from my colour of choice being a somewhat clumsy young individual! I wasn't overly gone on the clogs concept which seems to be sweeping the blogosphere but the bags and the stacked jewellery...oh my!Now if only those models would rumage around in the hay and find some food!!

There is a plethora of blogs out there in the www but without fail this is the blog that I literally check obsessively. Never has Caroline put a foot wrong (pardon foolish pun), but seriously I think I want to be her….hmm queue straight jacket!! And all this obsession despite not being able to understand a word she wrote until recently, i guess its true what they say about pictures and thousands of words! I particularly love the trend of crop tights under denim, way to save some dignity and keep in the heat in these trying Irish rainy days!

Safety pin couture has gripped the nation! Well not quite but its popping up all over the place! I am currently subjecting my own poor fingers to the touture of self-safety-pinning. The bag of 500 pins sat staring at me ever since i got them on ebay. Its a slow process, i'm not planning on going over board as i am aware that the more i add to my jacket the more possibilities there are of the little pricks opening and well, eh, pricking me!

My new vintage red bag...ok ok I lie its from Primark and being from there it'll probably fall apart long before it has even the slightest chance of becoming vintage but hey for €9 I'm sure as heck not complaining!!
